StormTeam 5 is closely monitoring the forecast charts, which point to a possible winter storm later this week. After a balmy day on Wednesday, temperatures will become slightly cooler for Thursday. “(It will get) just cold enough, that the next setup is potentially interesting,” said Harvey Leonard, chief meteorologist for StormTeam 5. Three operational models that are handling this period were showing a storm moving towards New England and moving. near Cape Cod, which would allow cooler air to persist in the interior of Massachusetts, leading to the possibility of snow accumulation. The other model follows the storm out to sea too south to bring precipitation. “Right now, I would lean a little more toward snow than rain, even though it’s early in the game,” said Leonard.

After a balmy day on Wednesday, temperatures will become slightly cooler for Thursday.

“(It will get) just cold enough that the next setup is potentially interesting,” said Harvey Leonard, chief meteorologist for StormTeam 5.

“It’s a storm system that will come from the south and potentially take a track that would create widespread precipitation around our area,” Leonard said.

On Monday evening, two of the three operational models that handle this period showed a storm moving towards New England and moving near Cape Cod, which would allow cooler air to persist over the interior of Massachusetts, causing the possibility of snow accumulation.

The other model follows the storm out to sea too far south to bring precipitation.

“Right now, I would lean a little more for snow than rain, even if it wasn’t until the start of the game,” said Leonard.
