WEATHER IN COLORADO: Storm system arrives Wednesday with mountain snow and strong wind watches


DENVER (KDVR) – We expect partly sunny skies in Denver on Tuesday with highs in the mid-60s. The normal high at this time is 44 degrees.

The mountains will see more and more clouds on Tuesday with strong wind and snow developing overnight.

Expect 4 to 8 inches of snow Wednesday in the central and northern mountains, with 6 to 12 inches in the southern mountains.

Snow accumulates at 5 a.m. on Thursday.

We expect wind gusts of 50 to 90 miles per hour in the central and northern mountains on Wednesday. The gusts will be even stronger in the southern mountains at 60-120 miles per hour, especially for the Sangre De Cristo.

In Denver, gusts of 40 to 70 miles per hour are not out of the question Wednesday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The gusts from the foothills will range from 50 to 80 miles per hour.

Expect calmer winds and drier conditions between Thursday and Sunday with highs in the 40s.
