Battling snow, altitude and -10 degree temperatures, 32 members of G Adventure’s G Trek For Good expedition reached the 4,167m summit of the Moroccan mountain last week.

Donations secured by the group will be split between the operator’s non-profit organization Planeterra Foundation and Abta LifeLine, helping to support local communities and members of the travel industry in need.

This was the second time that G Adventures has organized the Trek for Good initiative, having organized a small expedition to Kilimanjaro in 2019.

Brian Young, EMEA Managing Director of G Adventures, said a percentage of fundraising from the 2019 trip went to LifeLine for an “incredible response”, adding that there was “opportunity to go more away and Abta LifeLine was the obvious choice of partner for our second ride”.

“There is tremendous power in bringing people together to raise funds and tackle what was for some the toughest challenge of their lives. I want to thank the amazing G Adventures Experience Managers who helped to ensure that each person reaches the top which, given the conditions we faced, was no small feat. We always talk about the powerful friendships that can be made while traveling and I know that camaraderie and the bonds built on Mount Toubkal will last a lifetime.
