Today we are expected to have light snowfall. It seems pretty early in the season for snow, but that’s Michigan.
While my wife and I continue to search for a home, I will live vicariously through you. I love home ownership because of the upkeep that comes with owning a home. I love doing spring cleaning, mowing, trimming, fall cleaning and of course blowing snow.
When I lived in the city of Lansing, I used to get up as early as possible when it snowed for two reasons. 1. I needed to do my driveway and sidewalks. 2. I wanted to beat my neighbor, Gene, in the fist so I could do the sidewalks in my neighborhood.
There’s something about blowing snow that I love. Snow blowing is the kind of job where you can see the immediate results of your efforts. It’s fun to get through 12 inches of snow, pulling it through the air 10-15 feet into a pile that the kids will most likely play on.
I also like to help my neighbours. I had several elderly people living in my block. More often than not, they woke up to a clean sidewalk and driveway and didn’t know who had done it. It feels good to do good things.
I’m a bit late to write this, however, now is the time to get your snow thrower set up for winter. I brought mine every year to tune it up and get it ready for the impending winter disaster. Better to tune it now rather than in the middle of winter when all the stores are closed.

Thank you, C&K! I would give you all a 6 if I could. Thank you, Kathy and all the people who finally got my 25 year old little lawn tractor mowed like new. After it was delivered to me the first time, the game failed. I personally visited C&K, far out in the country, and spoke with Kathy, the friendly owner, who said she would have her driver pick it up. They replaced a broken belt at no cost and delivered Toro to me again (thanks Duane!)
