Storm clouds will rise in greater Akron on Saturday

The weather should mostly cooperate with Saturday’s PorchRokr Festival in Akron and other activities, but Sunday can be a little wet.

High pressure over northeast Ohio on Friday is expected to give way to scattered showers and thunderstorms across the greater Akron area Saturday night and Sunday as a low pressure front moves through the area .

National Weather Service forecasters predict that clear skies Friday and Friday evening will become increasingly cloudy Saturday afternoon. Friday night’s low is expected to be around 64, with a high of 85 expected for Saturday.

As Saturday night approaches, there’s a 30 to 60 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms capable of producing damaging gusty winds, forecasters said. Generally, scattered thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds and brief heavy showers are expected.

On Sunday there is a 60% chance of showers in the morning, increasing to 90% in the afternoon when the high is expected to be around 80 with an increasing chance of thunderstorms. The chance of showers and thunderstorms will increase to 80% Sunday evening.

Monday should be overcast with a 70% chance of showers.

Wet weather is forecast for Sunday in northeastern Ohio.  On this map, the "marginal" the dark green area indicates a 5% chance of severe thunderstorms.

Friday night: Fairly clear, with a low around 64. Wind south around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Saturday: Possibility of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. Increasing cloudiness, with a high near 85. Wind south 5-9 mph. The chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts less than a tenth of an inch except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 11 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m., then showers and thunderstorms possible after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. Wind south 5 to 10 km/h. The chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation is between a tenth and a quarter inch, barring higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday: Chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and maybe a thunderstorm after 8 am High near 80. Wind south around 7 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90%. Further rainfall amounts between a quarter and a half inch are possible.

Sunday night: Showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m., then likely showers and maybe a thunderstorm between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m., then chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Low around 64. Chance of precipitation 80%. New precipitation is between a tenth and a quarter inch, barring higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday: Chance of showers, then likely showers and maybe a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Mainly cloudy with highs near 78. Chance of precipitation 70%.

Monday evening: Likely showers and maybe a thunderstorm before 8 p.m., then chance of showers between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tuesday: Chance of showers after 8 am. Mainly sunny, with highs near 81. Chance of precipitation 40%.

Tuesday evening: Partly cloudy, with a low around 62.

Wednesday: Rather sunny, with a maximum close to 83.

Wednesday evening: Rather clear, with a minimum around 61.

Thursday: Rather sunny, with a maximum close to 84.
