Affected by a cold mainland air mass, snow fell this morning in high mountain areas of northern, central and southern Taiwan, including Mount Hehuan, Wuling Farm and Jiaming Lake.

At Songsyue Lodge in Taroko National Park, more than two inches of snow was recorded.

The first snow of this winter was recorded at Mount Hehuan around 8 a.m. yesterday, when it only snowed for two minutes. As the temperature dropped overnight, snow began to fall intermittently and then more continuously in the early hours of the morning.

Police have implemented traffic controls on some roads, forcing vehicles to use snow chains and banning motorcycles on sections affected by ice.

The Central Weather Bureau said that this cold air wave is humid and cold, with the combination of high humidity and low temperatures, Mount Hehuan, Jade Mountain and other high mountain areas will be lucky. to see snow from Sunday to Tuesday. The Highways Branch closed some sections of Mt. Hehuan Road 14, from the 24-kilometer mark in Yuanfeng to the 41.5-kilometer mark in Dayuling from 5:00 p.m. yesterday.

Traffic resumed at 7:00 am this morning. However, due to snow and ice on some sections of Mount Hehuan Road, traffic is restricted to vehicles equipped with snow chains, while scooters, heavy motorcycles, and Class B buses are prohibited. ‘enter.
