For the vast majority of Washington, winter has already been snowy. And while it’s not so good for those with travel plans, it’s wonderful for those of us who love snow sports. Tobogganing is an underrated winter pastime, and you don’t often hear about it here in Washington. But if you visit the Loup Loup Ski Bowl, you can hurtle down Bear Mountain in a toboggan sled.
In these uncertain times, keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket-to-visit list at a later date.
Located between Twisp and Okanogan on Highway 20, it’s a popular winter recreation destination for those who can reach it.

Prices vary, but most find tickets more affordable than most other skiers in Washington. Full-time residents of Okanogan County get a 10% discount.

Le Loup offers free instructional clinics on safe sledding, which you will definitely want to take if you are a beginner. Then you will be ready for the tobogganing experience itself.

These sleds weigh 50 pounds and can reach speeds of 90 miles per hour. And you steer your sled with your calves.

But once you have practiced and are comfortable with it, sledding is a real pleasure.

The Bear Mountain Luge experience lasts an hour and a half and costs $ 160. This includes all the sledding instruction you could possibly need, an outdoor snowmobile ride up Bear Mountain, and a guided sleigh descent on a groomed trail. You can add additional sleds to the experience for $ 40 each.

Tobogganing is a one-of-a-kind experience.
