People make last minute stops ahead of winter storm – NBC Connecticut

In anticipation of the snowstorm, many people rushed to stock up on food and collect other essentials.

The Friday night hustle and bustle was on the agenda at the Stop & Shop in Middletown. It comes as many brace for a major northeast that could bring more than a foot of snow across most of Connecticut.

“It’s a lot at the moment because we haven’t had one in a while,” said Erica Johnson of Middletown.

It was the second time Johnson had been to the grocery store in the past two days. She said she was hoarding food for her four children and her toddler.

“Juices, milk, eggs, cereal, you know supplies like that, juices for kids, things like that,” Johnson said.

NBC Connecticut meteorologists predict that every pocket in the state will get snow.

“I come from a bit snowier area where I grew up and where you get a lot more,” Jake Mele of Middletown said.

Some people said they weren’t worried about snow totals because they would stay indoors. Others say they can’t wait to play in the snow.

Across town, at Metro Spirits, dozens of people stopped for beer and even cases of wine.

“People are buying a lot of alcohol, you see the shelves emptying out,” said Metro Spirits manager Habroon Habib.

“We’re just getting a few bottles of wine, we think if we don’t drink them all tonight, hopefully we don’t, you know, we’ll have some for the future,” said Thompson Kanth of Middletown. .
