Kashmir saw the first snowfall of the season on Thursday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said similar weather conditions are likely to continue in Kashmir.

“Light to moderate rain in the plains and snowfall in the highlands of J&K are likely to occur over the next 24 hours,” a MeT department official said.

Snowfall in Kashmir

Gulmarg received 2 inches of snow and Sonmarg received 1 inch of snow. About two feet of snow was also recorded at Pir Ki Gali (Pir Panjal pass). Zabarwan hills in Srinagar district also received light snowfall.

Diwali long weekend

4. Phalgham

Surrounded by Lidder Lake and the Betaab Valley, Pahalgam is famous for rafting on Lidder Lake, golf and shopping for traditional Kashmiri items.

5. Anantnag

Anantnag is the commercial capital of Jammu and Kashmir. It has many popular attractions, including Sheshnag Lake, Aru Valley, which is worth a visit.
