Facebook imposes temporary restriction on Marjorie Taylor Greene’s account after permanent Twitter ban

UPDATE, 11:34 am: representing Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was once again sanctioned by a social media platform, this time by Facebook.

On the Telegram site, Greene cited his suspension of Facebook, which prevents him from posting to his account for 24 hours for violating their disinformation standards. The suspension comes the next day Twitter permanently suspended Greene’s personal account for posting false information on the Covid-19 vaccine.

A spokesperson for Meta, a parent of Facebook, said in a statement: “One post violated our policies and we deleted it; but deleting their account for this violation is beyond our policies. “

Greene wrote that the actions of Facebook and Twitter “go beyond censorship of speech. I am an elected member of Congress representing over 700,000 tax-paying American citizens and I represent their voices, their values, I defend their freedoms and I protect the Constitution.

PREVIOUSLY, January 2: Twitter announced on Sunday that it had permanently suspended the personal account of Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) for repeated violations of its disinformation policy on Covid.

“We have made it clear that, in accordance with our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy,” a Twitter spokesperson said.

The permanent ban on @mtgreenee’s account came after she tweeted about the Covid-19 vaccines.

The account she uses for her office in Congress, @RepMTG, remains active.

Earlier this year, Twitter unveiled a “strike” system serving as a mechanism for enforcing its policy of disinformation on Covid-19. The first warning served as a warning, but the second, third, and fourth warnings included account lockouts. After five or more warnings, users may have their account permanently suspended.

In a statement, Greene’s office said in a statement through its office, according to NBC News, “Twitter is an enemy of America and cannot handle the truth. That’s good, I’m going to show America that we don’t need them and that it’s time to defeat our enemies.

Greene’s account was suspended for a week in August after she tweeted that the vaccines were “failing.” She was warned at the time that the violation of her Covid-19 policy was a fourth “strike”. Greene has also been fined several times for breaking the rules for wearing masks on the floor of the House of Representatives.
