With a total of 214 hiking trails covering nearly 800 miles, over 340 miles of mountain biking routes, and a host of pristine fishing streams and cascading waterfalls, you could spend days in the Monongahela National Forest and not not experience everything. Pocahontas County contains more than a third of the 900,000 acre forest and the “Mon” (as the locals call it) is home to many notable local attractions including Cranberry Glades Botanical Area, Hills Creek FallsCranberry Backcountry, Honeycomb Rocks, Cranberry Wilderness Area, Highland Scenic Highway and Cranberry Mountain Nature Center. Escape the crowds and reconnect with nature as you journey through this off-the-grid oasis. No matter which trail you choose, visitors will find incredible views and West Virginia wildlife, so be sure to pack your binoculars and cameras. Picnic areas and visitor centers are also located throughout the forest.

Go hiking or mountain biking and discover the various terrains of Watoga State Park. Climb to the top of the watchtower at Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park for stunning views. Or spend time in the wide open spaces of Seneca State Forest for peace and solitude.
