SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. The Kirkwood Mountain Resort Adopt a Day (AAD) crew members arrived at St. Theresa’s Grace Hall on Monday, Nov. 7, thrilled and excited not only to volunteer but also for the several feet of snow that the weekend storm had provided. Representing Kirkwood were Cara Bourne, skier services manager; Justin Hartwell, Director of Ski Services; Stéphanie Padilla, F&B Manager; and Charli Talley, F&B administrator. This AAD volunteer team brought in the service skills they use to enhance the skier experience at the resort to ensure that Bread and Broth (B&B) Monday meal diners also enjoy a warm welcome and an excellent dining experience.
“The Bread & Broth Monday Meal is a fantastic opportunity for us Kirkwoodians to give back to the community,” Stephanie shared. “Everyone deserves a hot meal and we delivered plenty! Some of these people probably weren’t served with a smile today and it was wonderful to be able to. The Kirkwood team served a “fruity” chicken entree over noodles, roasted broccoli (rated A+ by Stephanie), a green salad, garlic rolls and an assortment of drinks and desserts.
Through Vail’s Epic Promise grant, Kirkwood Mountain Resort funds and hosts a Monday Meal every two months. Kirkwood always sends his “A” team members and B&B volunteers always enjoy volunteering side-by-side with them. “I look forward to our next opportunity to join the B&B volunteers in serving the great community of South Lake Tahoe,” Stephanie added. “Thank you, Bread & Broth, for having us! »
