Another storm will bring rain and snow to parts of New Mexico on Thursday

Grant’s Tuesday Night Forecast

Calmer and warmer weather continues through Wednesday. Another storm arrives Thursday bringing more wind, rain, snow and colder temperatures to New Mexico.

Calmer weather returned Tuesday after a strong fall storm rolled through the state yesterday. Many woke up to freezing temperatures this morning, but high temperatures were up to 5° to 30° warmer than yesterday. Despite the milder weather, temperatures were still around 10° below average. Warmer weather will continue to move into Wednesday as westerly winds turn a little windier tomorrow ahead of our next storm system on Thursday.

Winds will pick up Thursday as another storm system moves through New Mexico. Winds will once again blow in excess of 40 mph from the northwest with this storm as a cold front sweeps across the state. Temperatures will be cooler on Thursday and Friday afternoon. It is likely to bring light rain at lower elevations Thursday afternoon to parts of northern and eastern New Mexico, with snow in higher elevations, as well as to the Sacramento Mountains. There is still some uncertainty as to how the precipitation will spread south.

The storm dissipates quickly on Friday, leaving cold temperatures in its wake. It will remain windy Friday afternoon in eastern New Mexico, but drier weather will return. We will finally have a weekend with calmer weather across the state.
