ARTICLE I

Alternate Members

~ 47-1. Appointment; terms of office; qualifications.

 

            A.        In accordance with the procedures of the Charter, Chapter V, Section 5-1, the Board of Selectmen shall appoint to the Planning Commission three (3) alternates, each of whom shall serve in one-year terms.

 

            B.         Each such alternate shall be an elector as defined by Connecticut General Statutes Section 1-1c.

 

            C.        No such alternate shall be a member of the Zoning Commission or of the Zoning Board of Appeals.

 

 

~ 47-2. Attendance at meetings; powers and duties.

 

            A.        Alternates may attend all meetings and executive sessions of the Planning Commission at which they are not seated.

 

            B.         Alternates shall attend all meetings and executive sessions of the Planning Commission at which they are seated as herein provided:

 

                        (1)        Whenever a regular member of the Planning Commission is unable to attend a meeting or executive session, he shall contact the Chairman of the Planning Commission not later than twenty-four (24) hours prior to the time for said meeting or session.

 

                        (2)        The Chairman shall thereby contact an alternate to be seated at said meeting or session.

 

                        (3)        While an alternate is properly seated, he shall possess all the powers and duties of a regular member of the Planning Commission, as prescribed by the Connecticut General Statutes.
